8.UPDATE from Fountain Hills Sister Cities Corporation
2020 review the accomplishments despite COVID-19 1.
2021 January - March2.
Arizona Sister Cities has asked about Fountain Hills' interest in hosting their Annual
State Meeting in October 2021.
3.
Chair Carroll gave an update on the Fountain Hills Sister Cities Corporation:
1. 2020 review the accomplishments despite COVID-19
2020 Annual Meeting in February was at Desert Canyon grill and we have over 45
people in attendance.
One of the goals was sponsorships and getting our message across. We sponsored
the Chamber of Commerce Gala for the category of Not for Profit business.
We sponsored the Town’s Take Over the Community Center to get to know more
parents and the families who will be our future of the Sister Cities Exchanges. We
raised additional money through the alternate Oktoberfest Party for our scholarship
programs. Since we did not have any exchanges going on last year, the FHSC
Board Voted to increase our Scholarship amounts and give two of them. Both went
through the Golden Eagle Program we gave two $1,000 Scholarships. One to an
outstanding student in the foreign languages plus leadership amongst their peers.
The Second Scholarship was focus on Leadership, above and beyond, amongst
their peers and teachers, coaches, and administrators at the high school. A student
who wants to be involved internationally has served on committees, school council,
has volunteered in the community. The Leadership Scholarship award went to an
outstanding student.
We launched our first qtr. newsletter in 2020 as well. Freshened up our Logo too.
In the second year of the Pen Pal program with younger students: Commissioner
Ristuccia said that she is working with the pen pal program, whether it is the internet
or sending things.
Launched a SERIES of stories on our Sister Cities around the world. Before we
could ask for membership they had to know who we are - What is Sister Cities;
results - 6 Country focused stories on each of our Sister Cities relationships.
2. 2021 January - March
Enhanced Social Media, Marketing, and Membership Drive: Update our slide
show to a series of short videos, Facebook page – Students posting photos of where
they have gone and schedule of events.
Completely overhauling all our documents, brochures, cards, and social media to
drive our branding: New logo with a new brochure. It is being received very well.
The board of sister cities can vote on the one they want.
We are doing new name tags with a logo very large. They are very inexpensive and
are magnetic. Name tags will be royal blue.
Need to bring on 3 specialty Board members as we are targeting our weakest areas
April Annual meeting, in person, the election of Board members. Plus, Launch
our “International FHSC Cookbook Project” which should be done by September to
start sales and a Social Media EVENT.
3. Arizona Sister Cities has asked about Fountain Hills' interest in hosting their
Annual State Meeting in October 2021.
Chair Carroll said they want a tour of facilities and places to go out and see the town.
Approximately 40-60 or more attendees. They came to us and asked if we would like
to host it. They are looking to middle October. I will bring the committee out in
another couple of weeks. Town Manager Miller recommended Director Goodwin to
tour with them due to the Community Center Manager will no longer be with the
Town.
