5.UPDATE from working group on future trail priorities
Chairman Grzybowski acknowledged that the working group including himself,
Commissioner Willard and Commissioner Craig met a few times on the proposed future
trails. Commissioner Craig updated the commission on future trails that were brought
forward to the conservancy. The former fire station location up to Ridgeline Trail is
waiting on their opinion as well as another option that went through a trail easement.
New Trail Priorities Criteria will be sent out by Commissioner Craig to be included in the
Guidelines for Management of the Preserve.
Ms. Goodwin informed the commission that funding for the parking lot at Sundridge was
earmarked in the FY22 budget. This will be phase one with 40 parking spaces
compared to Adero Canyon which has 50 parking spaces. Commissioner Aiello asked if
the new trail will have hikers needing to cross a street. Ms. Goodwin acknowledged that
this area is not designed to be a trailhead and that this access point wil have no
ammenities or restroom at this time. Sundridge will have a fitness park, no playground,
soccer games or lighting, daytime use only with 3 ramadas.
6.UPDATE from working group on renaming working groups
The Operational Management working group will define process and steps to get there
and work on during the summer.
There was consensus among the commissioners to move forward with summer working
group. Commissioner Barberic wanted to address hot to market Sundridge.
7.DISCUSSION on new signs layout
Commissioner Craig provided a handout with the latest signs that will be needed for the
lower Ridgeline Trail once it is completed.
8.DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION on The Guidelines for Management of the
Preserve
The Guidelines for Management of the Preserve was approved by consensus of the
MMPC. This is a living document that will be reviewed and updated as needed.
9.DISCUSSION on Action Items
Chairman Grzybowski created a Google Doc to track activity and tasks to be
accomplished by MMPC. It was discussed to look at the protocols to be put into
place during a fire or flooding in the preserve. The AED location at Adero Canyon was
discussed and confirmation will be sent out to the Commission.
Ms. Goodwin addressed the concern of fireworks in the preserve on July 4th and
conveyed the trails are open dawn to dusk. The gates can be locked and signage is up
prohibiting the use of fireworks. The town will be having an event and staff will be
working at the fountain. It was suggested to ask members of the Conservancy to
monitor the trail heads and report anyone going in with fireworks.
10.REVIEW AND DISCUSSION of Trail Counter Activity and Trail Counter Recorder
Commissioner Craig informed the Commissioners that a trail counter has been ordered
as a back-up.
