So, my name is Ryan Preston and I'm tie Recreation Manager here, and I want to introduce yau to Saxah, our newest Recreation Program Coordinator. Sarah comes to us by way of Minnesota by way of Wiscansin. Is that clase envugh? Yeah, so, there we go. She's ben on a recreation team far about 10 years already. She's gt a degree in Recreation Manageinent as well as Public Adtninistration. We are happy to hae her an board. She's been here for almost a manth now. She has already been a great asset to the team. REDDICK: Welcme! kay, wauld one of aur Mayar's Youth Council like to share ar speak up? h, anc we'd like to welcome yvu as well. I also, once again, did the Light []p the Tflwn Tour, which was fun. I Always hae fixn with that no matter how long it takes. There was a gaod mix of new lights and old lights. So that was good to see, especially sread acrass town. And then I've also kind af enjoyed just watching the progress of the sidewalk improveixent. So that's Ieen caal. They'e been doing a very fast job an that. 5o yeah, awesame to see all the different stuff going an in tawn. REDDICK: I guess I'd just like to add that at the Health Expo, I got a lot of great feedback. I heard that it was ane afthe largest groups ar crwds that we'e had, sa that was good to hear. So goad jab. Atl right, sa I guess we'il moe forward to the next item on the agenda, Consideration and Pnssible Action Approal ❑f the Community Serices Adisory Commissian Noember 25, 024 Verbatim Meeting Minutes. All right, may I get a motion to approye the minutes, please? WILSN: Moe ta apprae. REDDIC: Can I get a secnd`? BARNES: Second. REDDICK: All those in faar say. ALL: Aye. LUPU52ANSI: Motion passes 6-l. Thank you. REDDICK: All right. Thank yau. The next itein on the agenda Update far the Tree Protectivn rdinane. SNIPES: I'll go ahead and take that one. We're moing along with that right now. It is to aur Deelopment Serices side vf the house ta make sure it mathes up with all f their inforination and v that it gets distributed eenly. We wer scheduled to have a meeiing late last week with them, and we had an emergency here in the building that kicked us all out of the building during the time we were haing that meeting. So hopefully by next month, we'll hae some better updates far you and get that closer to being ready to push. REDDICI: Thank yau far that. The next item on the agenda is the Update for the Four Peaks Park Restroom Grant. SNIPES: I'll tackle that ane as well. It is open and ready far business, aIl kinds of husiness. Sut yah, it was well receied. For those that don't know, it was a prefabbed restroom that came in in two halves to be put in place. It toak them abvut a week to put ii in. It taok us a little bit ❑f time to get the landscaping ready around it and get eerything back open. But it's a rea[ly nice faility and it was a grant-funded facility. We had $500,04Q from the grant and the tawn paid $1 ,Q. Qur grant proiders were there at our ribbfln cutting, and they were impressed with the quality. And they're like, yu dan't knaw how many restraains we see. This is by far the best - 3 - httqs:llatter.ai COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISRY CaMMIS5I0N JANI]ARY 27, 2025 VERBATIM MEETIN MINUTES and wanted to know if we'd be willing to share the infonnatian aaut who did it for us, who we worked with, and how our experience was, which, af caurse, 'm always wiling to da, because when you find something goad, yau want everybady to have that saine experience. But from start t finish it was fantastic. Patti did all the legwark ta get all af our inoies paid and taken care af. Thank you for that. Grants are no small task and far those that haen't eer participated in ane, they require a lat af bookkeeping, a 1Qt of making sure yaur i's are dotted, t's are crassed ta make sure yau get your funding back. And so Patti always does a great job with that, and Brandan did a great job keeping all th contractors n.inning in the rigt directian, which is no small task as well. But overall, it went really sinaothly. There were no majar hiccups in it at al and the only issue that we'e had is f guring out the auto locks which we failed at ane ar twice because the restroom has aut locks in it, which is nice. The problem is if someone goes anc key locks it beause they're so used to key locking it, the auto locks now are being bypassed y the key lock. Sa, we just need our nighttime staff, to th janitors ta nt lock it up when they're don cleaning it. Sv, but yeah, they'e it's been it's gatten a lot of campliments fram our Pickleball users and our playground users, and it just really changes that whale atnosphere over there, as far as making it a usable side of the park. Sa, we're excited about it. REI3DICK: I will say the park keeps getting hetter and better. So, thank yau for all that you d. The next item on the agenda, it's the Update for the Arizona State Puzze Dvnor Program Centennial Pailian. SNPES: Sa we're currently intv anather round, I think aur third or faurth raund so far, and we're at three more puzzle pieces that have been ardered, sv we're seen away fram making our next raund. We'll b pushing that information out again here shartly with Mike to txy and keep people interested in it. It's caming alang and if you haen't looked at the puzzle lately, it's grown in size. I'm happy with it. I think it's a cool piece of it'll be neat to hae that sticking araund for years tfl come. REDDICK: All right. Thank you far that. The next itein on the agenda, it's the Update from the Mayar's Youth Cuncil. NATH: So, I could speak tv that a little bit. So the past few months hae been pretty eentful in the Mayor's Youth Council, where we'e f nished the surey that we were planning an making, which is the Cominunity Valunteerism Survey, which has #lyers for and I beliee is also in this it should be towards the end, but it's the survey is asking a bunch of uestions, both poised towards Scottsdale and Fauntain Hills residents, where it's saying, where da they draw their eents from? Like, what makes them interested in their community? And what really an we bnng ta Fountain Hilis that lrings more people in? Sa we just hae, like, a few questions here and there, and we'e started receiing a few responses. Eeryane here, I'm pretty sure, has already participated in that survey, hopefully, but, yeah, we started receiving some respanses - 4 - hitps:llatter.ai CMMLINITY SRVICES ADVI50RY COMMISSIN ]AIVUARY 27, 2025 VERSATIM MEETING MINUTES here and there far that, and now with these flyers, we're gaing ta distrilute them at same schaols. I know for a fact that I'm gaing to ga ta Basis Scottsdale, ta speak tQ a few teachers, and get them the links and all that so they can hae our Student5 fill ❑ut the survey and get more responses for it. REDDICK: So, I guess I just wanted to ask are you utilizing social inedia to get the respanses that you need fram the students? NATH: Oh yeah, I'm pretry sure we hae. Faebook page and Instagram. Yeah, we hae Facebaak and Instagrain. Sa, I mean, Skyiar is the most infrmed here. So, if she wants ta ad anything she can. REDDICK: I was just going to add, could yau maybe da something ta draw the students in like, maybe, a raffle, ar just something to incentiize the indiiduals? NATH: The only issue wi#h incenties that we ran int when trying ia make the survey is that yu would hae to collect some sort of data of like ❑r like identifying infonnatian ❑n that indiidual, anc that would lead ta, like, a whole bunch of like yau would need an IRB and all these other steps that could lead to, like, a gray area where we don't want to enter that. So it's just lik we're just haing, like the broad surey. REDDICK: 4kay, so I was just going to suggest that if you just maybe did the fourth or fifth person that would send a survey just ta help if yau're still missing. THMAS: I would like to add I am one ❑f the advisors far tke Mayor's Yauth Council. So we are ging ta do, they don't knaw this yet, we are going to da an Instagram reel. Sa that's knd of one of the things that we're going to target, that coer5 ar Teen Survey, our Teen Takeaer Eent, and alsa recruiting future tnembers. Sa tat's at ❑ur meeting next time. So be prepared. In addition ta that at aur Teen Takeoer, we're thinking that's probably going to e the biggest hub for the most responses we're gaing to get. And we always hae raffles at that eent, s❑ that will just be an extra incentie. If yau take this surey, yau get an extra raffle ticket. S❑ that will help kind of incentiize, at least at the eent. So that will help at least at Teen Takeaver we just don't have, financially, the ability to raffle multiple items off. But thank yau. Thank you. WILSON: I just want to say quikly. Shreyaan, thank yau for the update. That's really awesome. Eerything that yau guys are doing. It's really good to hear te iifferent progress. And again, I mean, I'e said this a billion times I was a fori-ner MYC member, and it was totally different in my day. Sa it's really gvod t see the different pragress that staff and als the students are making. And I'm excited to see what you guys do. SNIPES: And you mean far te better. REDDICI: Very nice. Thanks, Rory. The next itetn an the agenda, is the Cvnsideration and Passible Action far Park Tnurs and Rory, would yau like ta interjet? WILSaN: I beliee Ran's taken this. - 5 - httqs:llvtter.ai DMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY CMMISIN ]ANUARY 27, 2025 VERBATIM MEETIIIG MINiITES REDDICK: Sorry. RUPPERT: Patti cantacted me a week ag and wanted me to thraw out some ideas to the Commission here af possible ones that we can do in the future months, and I wrote dawn Four Peaks Park hecause we haven't teen there fr a while, and o' course, with the new restroom and the pickleball courts and sidewaiks and playground equipment. Then Adero Canyan ta see, yau knaw, when it's busy, you know, ta see how the parking lot aperates and how that whole area up there is working aut. And, yau knQw, talk f future expansion possily up there. Then the new parks maybe we can stand on the corner there and take a look at Pleasantille. Then, back to Galden Eagle Park after mre wark should be dne by the time we get there. So my thoughts were, maybe do Qne a month here, right? You knw, going froin February thraugh June, and then at the bottom of that ane after Golden Eagle Park, you knaw, Rory brauglt up. And maybe we can een snak in the Dark Sky at the end. And that prabably wauld be a little further along than we wauld get ta it. What I wuld like t do is einail eerybody tamorrQw. What I normally dQ is, yDll II1bW, throw out a few dates and times. I knaw it's hard for eerybady, but usually, we try ta do it in the afternoons, you know, during the week, if we can. And then, you know, kind of take a majority ❑f the otes, and if we have, you know, three f us, vr, you knaw, faur there, and samebody fram staff, that's what we kind of do with these. So think abaut it, and I'll send out an einail, a graup email, ta everyone inoled. WILSUN: Thank you, Ron. I think this is ery helpful. Also, I was thinking that maybe we cauld try to do the tours a week befare our next meeting if that makes sense. So, it's still fresh in our minds, and we can still tal about it. So, if that would be passible for eeryone, I think that wouZd e ery helpful. Ri]PPERT: We'll try. But, yau know, everybvdy has iifferent schedules, so that's the tough part. REDDICK: Ve were wondering if we could thraw aut same dates on Wednesday and Thursday as options. But does that wark for yau with your schooling`? So if that helas. Thank yau for arganizing this, Ron. The next item an the agenda is the Consideration and Possible Action for Future Agenda Items and Speakers. SNPES: I wasn't sure if you guys were going ta discuss what else yau wanted to bring in. Amanda is coming next month to talk. Are there any specific areas that yau want her t highlight as far as Ecanomic deelapment gaes? RUPPERT: I think ju5t prbably a broad stroke and future thoughts and how she's doing and go frQm there. REDDiCY{: All right, the next item Qn the agenda, it's the Reiew and Discussian far Upcaming Eents and Volunteer flpportunities. - 6 - httqs:llatter.ai COMMUNITY SERWICES ADVISQRY COMMI55IDN JANUARY 27, 2Q25 VERSATIM MEET]NG MINUTES SNIPES: Acording to Ryan, we're getting ready to be husy again. We toak our week aff, and we're ready to rall. So there's a lot ❑f things coining up. 1Ve hae the Skateboard Classi, I guess we got it since we gat done with our Valunteer Expo, which was well receied. I think 7 tables were used during it. So hopefully, our groups faund the peopie that they needed ta help them with ti-ieir valunteering. The 5kate Classic I thixk we're an pace far where we've been in the past. The Teen Takeover that was j ust mentioned is caming up here an March 1. Irish Fauntain Fest is where we could use same definite help, because we detennined our cammissioners can handle money, carrect? I'i-n going to sell tiat StQry. We knaw Craig daes, but we ould certainly use help far IriSh Fest, we're loking at trying to hae same additianal areas where people can get the foad and drink5 that they're looking for, s❑ we need same extra cash handlers the latest that I'e heard ar we, that's the main thing that we're laoking for right now, right? Sa if anybody's interested in taking a shift ❑n that, we culd use yaur help there. Then our Concerts on the Aenue are getting ready ta kick back up here in a couple of months Music FeSt. If Ryan was here, I wauid gie hiin a hard time, because the logo is not ready yet, and we' only seen about 7000 different ersions af it, and we'r narrawing it dwn slawly, and I'll leae this all up to Skyler ta get it narrowed down. But yeah, we're excited about this year's Musi Fest is gQing to be rolling thraugh tle ages af rock and rall, and we're going to try a little bit different than what we'e done in the past, and doing a lot more coer bands. VVe seem to ase some energy when we hae up-and-caming groups. And sa ur last band end5 up heing the one that has the least crowd, and they're the ones we're paying the mst for. That math didn't add up. So we're trying satnething a little bit different. We're starting Iike 5s, 6Ds, 7s, and then $Os, 9fl5, ta kind of rol up thraugh the through the ages. So, we're excited abut that. And then I heard that we just got in a ton of eggs for Extraaganza, 300 paunds worth of eggs. S❑ we're serious about ur Extravagarjza. Sa yeah, thase are the main things that we hae caming up. We hae our monthly. This is all part ❑f this ta❑ the Care Card. We hae a lot of them, I knaw they're getting ready to make some hearts for Valentine's Day right now. It's a it's a graup that keeps growing taa I think naw we're typically up to 18 to 19, people that are coming far that each month, which is great because thase Care Cards and the gifts go to our home deliery meals recipients. So a lot oftimes it is people that don't get to see peaple ery often, and sa we want them to feel welconie and brighten up their day a little bit with it, with a gift that goes along with the meals that they get eery day, and a lot of times that's the ❑nly meal tiey get, so they split it into three meals for thir day and so it helps our people e able ta stay in their houses anger, and it goes a long way ta help brighten up their day. S❑ autsie f that, that's about it for us for naw. REDDICI: It's a lat of gaod stuff. I hae to say, the Concerts on the Avenue, I absolutely lae. They're amazing. S❑ absolutely the next item Qn the agenda is the next community serice adisar. 7 - https:llotter.ai CaMML]NI'I'Y SERWICES ADVI50RY COMMI55ION jANUARY Z7, 2Q25 VERBATIM MEETING MINUTE5 The commission meeting will take plae an February 24, 225, and wiil be with Amanda, as we just heard earlier, Amanda Jaccbs, the Ecanomic Deelopinent Directar, will be presenting.
