All right, sv I guess we'li moe into the next item, Call to the Publtc. LOPl15ZANSKI: No Call ta the Public. REDDICF{: Item number four, Reports by Commissioners. RUPPERT: I guess Ian start that off. Since aur tour is not on the agenda, I guess we can a!I kind of speak ta that, since we had just abaut perFect attendance far the last ane, which was, I think, the first time we've eer had a perfect attendance, which is great. Sa, everykdy chimes in on this. Kevin was graciaus enaugh to show us around, and it had been about two years since we had been there. The skate park was under onstructian the last time we were t#ere, and now it's just about dane. I knvw Kevin talked abaut same tweaks here and there, and same changes, arrd the whys and why nots. So that helps, even thaugh it seems insignificant ta otlers, like the river rock on the ho#tom and that kind of thing, liability and safety-wise. We talked about the field itself, the exercise equipment, and what they hae planned. Jusi ta me, it's something I think that'll grvw and grvw, yvu know, and probabfy will nee ❑ur support here in the future. We talked about the future playgraund equipment getting changd out, and some of the ideas that Kevin had, and we'r bouning that off. I talked about the dag park, you know, past and present, you know what's gaing an there? Beause that's always going ta he an angving thing. Yvu knvw that Desert Vista Park has come a Iong way since I've sat on this commission, ❑r Parks and Rec cmmissian, years aga, and it's just nice t see. Eerybady asked wanderFul questions. What happens when you have a big group is that you get a!at of ciifferent perspecties and thoughts on it. So, I thought i# was ane of the best tours we've ever had. REDICK: I just want #o add, Kein, you and the team are daing an amazing job. Parks are great. Thank you for a!I that you do. VARELA: I thought it was great as well. I rrtean, i think that Fan said everything that tYere's nothing else to add to, there's nothing mors for me, as yau named, eerything we went through, but yeah, I thvught the tvur was great, and i Iove that park. BARNES: I personally don't skate or have a pet, but I really like the fitness equipment. I thvugt that was nice. Great tvur. REoICK: All right. Item number five, Consideratian and Possible Appraal nf the Community Serice Adisory Commission. March 24, 2a25, Verbatim Meeting Minutes. Can we get a motion? - 2 - https:llatter.ai CMMLTNITY SERVICES ADVISORY CMMISSIDN APRIL 28, 2Q25, VERBATIM MEETING MINL]TES WIL50N: Moe to approe RUDOLPHY: Second. RE[7DICFt: All those in faor? ALL: Aye. LPLISZANSKI: Mvtivn passes fi-fl. REDDICFt: All right. Item number six, Consideration and Possible Action to Estahlish Teams to Update Park Assets Eaivatian. SNIPES: I an kind of start that one of. Sa, what we're Iooking far, yau can kind of see in the packet, the ariginal asset list. And what we're Ioaking ta dv is fvllvw this up with an up-to-date versan, and have it, have your sets o€ eyes an it, along with staifi, to get a different perspective. It'll be helpful ta us to see where our attentian should be. It's a simple 1, 2, or 3 rating scale, one meaning that we're at a pvint where we need tv be looking at doing a replacement, and a threa being that iYs new ❑r in new canditian, where ihey're ready tv cvntinue to be in use. The twa are the aerage. It's heen vut there a little bit, but still in gaod working order, stil safe, and a lot of the things that are in here since the time that we did this have been updated. And sa, it'll be important tQ look when yau go to see if this is still accurate? Is it nvt accurate? vn't be afraid ta rate it diferently. That's fine. Just make sure that yau'ra staying cansistent with how yau rate as you're going through it's easy when yvu're daing it, for anyane to get compfacent and just make a mark. So, we need thse to be accurate. If you can't find something, that's okay, you can put a mark next to it. Couldn't loate, didn't know where this was. And then we can laok at it furthsr frvm there. Mvst af the stuf#, I thinl, is self-explanatary. If yau have any questions about it, you can always reach out to me. But what we'd fike to do is hae you pair up sa tha# there are two of you going ❑ut, looking at, parks that yau want ta go to, where we make sure we get ali the parks caered. I dvn't need all af yvu tv g❑ tv eery single park. I'm fina with the twa of yau going #o a parlc, and that being what we get for that park, to be gaing to anather park, and geiting that far that park, hecause there are a lot of things in it. I#'s an extensive list of things that we have. Sa, with that, what we're laaking for is some people to olunteer, to pair up, and then choose the parks that you would like ta ga to, so that we can make sure that alf vfi them get covered. RLlDOLPHY: Sa, from my accounting background, yau're essentially wanting us tv d❑ an inentory. So, there could be there that aren't, and likewise, new things that haen't heen there. SNIPES: There absolutely ould ba, they shvuld be, pretty much all ❑n here. There might be one or twQ things here and there that are rew and ar if they aren't vn there and yv see them, by all means, let's put them vn there sv that we get them on ours. Rl10QLPHY: Sa, how current is what you gave us? SNIPES: This is the original, three years ago, twa years ag, mark. Sv, some things are new that are ❑n there, but a lot af the new things are replacing old. And so, you'll still see them on here. They'll just have a grade that's not accura#e to how new tha equipment is. Rl1DLPHY: 5a, this is nat what the staff has dane. You're gaing tv take vurs and cvmpared to what staff, what stafF have done, correct? SNiPES: Yeah, this was the third party thaf did this rating. VARELA: Are yau gving to give us Blank, bEank of these, vr are we going to loak at that? SNIPES: We'll send out all of that after today's meeting. Dnce we knw wha's gettirg who's doing what, we'll serd ❑ut that infarmation t each vf yvu. - 3 - https:llotter.ai COMMUNTTY SERVICES ADVISRY CMMISSIN APRIL 28, 2025, VERSATIM MEETING MINUTES RUDOLPHY: Well, it might be helpful to, like, send out something ta hae us mark whih vnes we want ta do, instead of trying to tonight, figure out who's going to do what, and then forgetting tomorrow morning that, ah yeah, we agreed to do that park, or was it ihe other park that we agreed to da? SNIPES: If we get an agreement on whic# parks you're gaing to gv tv, then Patti will send out an emaif to yau with the parics that you're agreeing to and the list that coincides with that. LDPIlSZANSKI: 1 do have hard capies #or anyone wh❑ wants ta take it tonight, but I will follow up with an email. But yvu'll e able ta see what it loaks like then as well. REDDICK: 5a, can I get a mation tv mae the es#ablished teams tv update the Park Assets Ealuation? LQPLISZANSKI: Ieliee that we just, if we're just establishing a wark group of two, we dan't have to have a motion ar a ate. It's a review you can discuss. VARELA: Well, ['ll go ta a park. 5a, if smebady wants to jurnp on with me, same WILSN: I'm also ❑en to doing any parts. REDICK: Yeah, I am as well. RLlDDLPHY: It saunds like maybe yau shvuld just assign us parks, because I think we're all willing. To d❑ whatever. VARELA: I mean, I guess maybe, like, I work Monday through riday, so I would hae ta either da an early mvrning walk around a park, ar a weekend, or evening. I don't know if #at helps. WILSON: I'm alsa in the same bvat as yvu are, ar wiii be, Natalie, s I mean... VARELA: Okay, do you want to partner'? WILSN: kay, yeah. SNIPES: This is samething tat wa're lovking to get back in September. 50, we're not putting a rush, a dead sprint an you to get it dane. 50, we just would like ta get it back for the first meeting in 5epfemher, where we an moe forward from there. REDDICK: 5v, we will jst wait far Patti ta update us? VARELA: Can +ve pick our grvups right now, vr can we discuss it after? SNIPES: I'm fine with either way. If you guys would like ta choose yaur rvups that I was trying tv rrEake it to where that yau could just choase who yau wauld go with to make it sa where the you guys can make it easier vn yvu. And yau can reach ut in an email and say, "This is our this is the graup that I'm warking with". That wQuld be fine. And then Patti can take yau over tv the parks t❑ Ioak at, and then we can ga there. aoes that wark? Can we ge# fhat n the next cauple of days? If yau cauld get that sent oer ta her, what the teams are going to be, then whateer team that you're working with, that wauld be great, and then we can send that over. RUDOLPHY: How many parks are there in tatal? SNIPES: 5a> we're looking ta do all fie parks, the two trailheads, there are fewer things at so I'm okay with us not daing those. But if we d❑ four peaks, DeSert Vista Park, the Aenue Linear Park, Fountain Park, and Galden Eagle Park. Sv, if yvu're willing ta do tw parks, if yvu could add that tv yvur list, that would be great. And then we'll get them all passed out. VARELA: Can we do it? Oh, sorry, can we alsa d❑ this? Like, if we have, if you gie, like, an extra form, like, I have vne friend that I walk like, we r#ate all the parks and walk around, an I d❑ this witfi her? k mean, nat that she's gaing ta fill it vut, but, SNIPES: Can she be alone wfiile you're daing it? - 4 - httos:llatter.ai CMMUiITY SERVICES ADVISORY CMMISSIDN APRIL 28, 2025, VERSATIM MEETING MINUTES VARELA: I mean, s❑ it wauldn't be like, as a partner, then it would he like, I wauld just be filling it vut as a single person out of this group. SNIPES: I don't have a prablem with that. I just figured if we, if we paired up that way, you guys would be haing cvnersativns with each other, Ioaking at the parks and seeing thrvugh our Cammission's eyes what status we're at, from where we were then to where we are now. VARELA: ❑kay, REDOICK: We all agree that we`II have an email back aer tv you within the next day ar so with the parks and who our grup team members are. SNIPES: Yeah, if we get just the team members, and if you're willing to do one or twa parks, then we can send out and make sure all of them get avered. We'll send vut the parks that we woufd like yau to g❑ ta. Daes that wvrk? Dkay, thank yvu. REDDICK: All right. Action Item number seen, can we ge# an Upclate on Benches and Swings? SNIPES: 50, I finally heard back that they're expecting to ship this Friday. Still holding my hreath. It's been an extremely Ivng and painful pracess af getting them shipped tiut, but they said they do finally have the parts in, so they jusf got ta get it and put vn this week, and then they're going to ship vn the first so if all that holds tre, we should he four or fie days out from seeing them here, and then I knQw we're ready and anxiaus to get them mounted and installed as saan as they get here, s❑ we'll he able to do that with the swings. We have Panorama Park; we did a final walk-thrvugh with them today. They have a few punch list items to complete, but that park is coming a long way, and that ane's going tv have four benches put in as well, sa we'll be ready ta get those mounted as well. REDICK: All right, moe on to actian item eight, the llpdate vn the Arizvna State Puzzle Donar Program in Centennial Pailion. SNIPES: We'e had six puzzle pieces that have heen ordersd, and mast af those have been sitting fvr a little while. Sa, we are going to go ahead and place an order. I just did it a few minutes ago ta get that going, and then we'll shovt another video and look to push that out to try and get some mare people interested again. That seems tv functian well. As far as they start seeing mare spvts getting filled, they realize that they are running aut of time. And sa, we'll be doing that again. As soon as we gei those puzzle pieces in, it usually takes them a couple of weeks max ta get those in. Sa, we'll get those put up ere sortly. WILSON: Kein, how many da we have fike in there, and how many spots do we have ieft? SNfPS: That's a great question. We hae probably 25 ar 30 spacs, i would say, filled samewhere in that range. So, we're somewhere in the 7 spots left. REDOiCK: Hae we been able tv cvnnect with ather aganizatiQns within #he community, jusi from the Rotary Cluh, ❑r just as an example, to help, as far as pushing #or sales or indiiduals wanting to purhase or donate? SNIPES: We'e r.ertainly talked to the di#ferent ciubs and sent infvrmation vut to them. And, you know, we're pushing all our socia media sites, and we'e done ideas on it, and we'e done newspaper articles an it, and all sarts af things like that. Sa, it's just a matter af svmetimes people will get interested, and then they farget that they're interested, and then they farget abvut it until they see it again. Sa, we keep hitting them a little hit of the time as we go. We have three or four people right now who are interested in patential. Sa, if'll just be another push fvr them ta let another run aut af time to make those selectians. REDDICK: All right. Action Item number nine, Llpdate, Mayor's Youth Council. - 5 - https:llofter.ai CMMLTNITY SERVICES ADVISaRY COMMI55[QN APRIL 28, 2Q2S, VERSATIM MEETING MINUTES NATH: Hella, everyone. Sorry, I'm late. So recently, the Mayar's Yauth Cauncif finished vur survey that we were doing thraughout the entire year, and we were gaing aver all the data, we had abaut 1 Q responses, so it was a lot more than we initially had expected, but 100, is a 10D and as we were lovking through #he data, most of our da#a came fram yaunger people, specifically like middle schoolers, hecause mast of our respanses came from ❑ur Teen Takeover event, which had a higher amvunt of middle schaolers than we exected but what we saw was that majtirity af peaple, they spend their #ime within the tawn, they're going to small little events, whether that's meeting at the parks or each other's hvuses. But if it's any vther eent ather than that, they're going ❑utside af town, autside of town, mayhe to Scottsdale vr wherever else. Sv, what we lavked at was, akay, what can we get? What is in Scattsdale that's nflt here? So the two things that we mainly #ook away is that the first thing we need is aombined Cvmmunity Center far children, kind of iike a, kind of, fike Soys and Girls Cfub ar whatever, but mvre along the lines af, like the Community Center, where it's like a public space, kind of like, imagine, like in the moies, you see like an arcade vr whatever, and there's like a bunch af kids hanging out. What we noticed was tfe trend that a lot of people wanted. And I know there are plenty af buildings in tvwn where we vne had a hawling ailey as well. 50, it's like vwe hae a bunch vf empty spaces in tawn that we culd be using, ❑r maybe een building a space, if that's an option, but it was jusi like a collectie space far teens that we needed. That was the first #hing. The second vne was a town svcial media, ar specifically, a Mayor's Youth Cauncil social media past. And I know there are some issues and limitatians vn haw much we can da, because I'm pretty sure the tawn can't target peaple under the age af 18 beause af some social media regulations. But what we were thinking of was haing social media run by people in the Mayar's Yauth Cauncil or whateer youth vrganizatians, and ust advocating to members in the town, and trying #o kind vf da like a Mayor's Yauih Cauncil, hut far sacial media. Any questions? WILSN: I just want to say thank you for telling us, and I'm updating us an the survey. That's cool. I'm glad to hear that yvu guys got a govd response from that. it's awesome. Thanks. REODICK: All right, mge an ta Agenda Item 1 Q Update for Future Agenda Items and 5peakers. Patti, will that be you ar...? SNIPES: Yeah, I think as far as goirrg on another park tour, we could shooE to da another one next mvth. We're starting ta get ta where it's hvt to be doing them. Sv, we cauld wait till fall. It's entirely up ta yvu guys ta know hw you want to dQ thase. We cauid go down tv Panorama Park. I dan't have any prohlem doing that. If you guys want to cme aut and da a quickie, that would he a quick spot tv gv through. It's nvt a big part, but I dv think it'll have it. It already plays a significant role in what it was designed ta d4. And I knaw that the HDA behind the park is excited about it being there. VARELA: I' like to add that Qn. I'd like ta see i# with you giing us the tour. REDDICF{: Maybe we could get some dates, as we did last time. RLIPPERT: Alsv, yau knaw, we've done aretty ood job of getting the speakers that we requested earlier in the year, except for Rachel. 50, I think we nesd, yau icnow, we'd Ivve tv have Rachel cvme in, sfl I'm going to keep bothering unti! she does. SNIPES: I'll talk to her about that and see if she's got a window where she cauld come down and talk to us. VARELA: All right.
