W+iEREAS, parks and recreation are an integral part vf tommunities thraughout this country, including the
Town af Fountain Hills; and
WfiEREA5, parks and recreation promote health and wellness, impro�ing the physical and mental health of
people who live near parks; and
Wi1EREAS, parks and reereation pramote time spen# in nature, whi[h positi�ely impacts menta! health 6y
in[reasing cogniti�e perfarmance and well-being, and alle�iating illnesses such as depression, attention
defi[it disorders, and Alzheimer's; and
WHEREAS, parks and recreation encourage physi[al a[ti�ities by pro�iding space for popular sports, hiking
trails, and many other atti�ities designed to promate acti�e lifestyles; and
WHfREAS, parks and recreation is a leading prp�ider Qf healthy meals, nutrition ser�i[es, and education;
and
WHEREAS, park and recreatian pragramming and edu[ativn a�ti�ities, such as ❑ut-of-schpol time
prvgramming, youth sparts, and en�ironmental edu[ation, are triti[al ta �hildhoad de�eiapment; and
WHEREAS, parks and recreation increase a community's e[anomi[ prosperity through increased property
�alues, expansion of the local tax hase, increased tourism, the attra�tion and retention of k�usinesses, and
crime reductian; and
WHEREAS, parks and re�reation are fundamental to the en�ironmental well-being of vur cammunity; and
WHEREAS, parks and recreation are essential and adaptahle infrastru[ture that make our tommunities
resilient in the face af natural disasters and [limate change; and
WHEREAS, aur parks and natural re[reation areas ensure the ecological i�eauty vf our community and
pravide a place for �hildren and adults to �annect with nature and recreate outdoors; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. House af Representati�es has designated luly as Parks and Recreatian Month; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fountain Hi11s re�agnizes the benefits deri�ed from parks and recreation resvurces.
