WHEREAS, alcohol and drug abuse in this nation are at epidemic stages; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that visible, unified prevention education efforts by community
members be launched to eliminate the demand for drugs; and
WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign offers citizens the opportunity to demonstrate
their commitment to drug -free lifestyles which means no use of illegal drugs and no illegal use of
legal drugs; and
WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in Fountain Hills on
October 10, 2013; and
WHEREAS, business, local, national and state governments, parents, law enforcement, media,
medical institutions, religious institutions, schools, senior citizens, service organizations, and
youth will demonstrate their commitment to healthy, drug -free lifestyles by wearing and
displaying red ribbons on this day; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Linda M. Kavanagh, Mayor of the Town of Fountain Hills, hereby
proclaim October 10, 2013 as RED RIBBON DAY in Fountain Hills and encourage Town
citizens to participate in drug prevention education activities on this day and all year long, making
a visible statement that we are strongly committed to a drug -free town.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the official
seal of the Town of Fountain Hills, Maricopa County, Arizona this 3'a day of October, 2013.
