ALF GRANT APPLICATION FOR
FISCAL YEAR 2018-19
SECTION I: APPLICANT INFORMATION
Applicant: Town of Fountain Hills Contact: David Trimble
SECTION II: PROJECT REQUEST(S)
1. Transit Project
a. Project Title: Park N Ride
b. Project Location: La Montana & El Lago, Fountain Hills, AZ
c. Project Description: Planning, relocation and construction of a Park N Ride lot for the Valley metro#514
bus route- "Scottsdale Express". This is the sole bus route currently serving the Town of Fountain Hills.
The final pick up and drop off location is currently located at Palisades and La Montana. The new location
would be approximately 1/3 mile from the current location. The proposed location is well suited as the
main public transportation hub due its proximity to Town Hall, Community Center, and Library. Also,
the proposed location has ample parking, is Town-owned, and should provide long-term stability.
Additional project information may be attached.
d. ALF funding requested (also include on line 2a) $30,000
e. Other Funds included in the Project (include on line 2b on page 1) $0
f. Total Project Cost $30,000
g. Type of Project: Planning x Capital Operations Other
h. Is the project included in the Regional Transportation Plan? (Yes or No) No
i. Is the project included in the TIP or UPWP? (Yes or No) Yes
The Park N' Ride project is in process and nearing completion. The concrete and other ground work has been
completed. We are awaiting the bus shelter structure that will be installed. We expect this to be completed by
the end of March 2019. The $30,000 listed is the amount that is approximately remaining to be expended of
this $150,000 project.
2. Transit Project
a. Project Title: Additional Bus Stop Shelters
b. Project Location: Palisades & Fountain Hills Blvd.
c. Project Description:
The current Valley Metro#514 Express bus service runs along Palisades blvd from Shea blvd to the middle of Town.
There are 6 stops along the route within Fountain Hills and we are proposing construction of bus stop shelters at one of
the busier locations, Palisades& Fountain Hills Blvd. Since Palisades blvd is a divided road, most of these bus stops will
require two shelters. One shelter is part of the Park N' Ride project listed above at Town Hall that is currently in
progress. Additional bus stop shelters could be built along this route to accomodate all stops on both sides of the
street. We are proposing building 3 of them in the next fiscal year with available funding (approx$60,000 each).
Remaining shelters could be built with future funding.
Additional project information may be attached.
d. ALF funding requested (also include on page 1 line 2a) $180,000
e. Other Funds included in the Project (include on line 2b on page 1) $0
f. Total Project Cost $180,000
