HomeMy WebLinkAbout120216P NOTICE OF THE REGULAR SESSION OF THE FOUNTAIN HILLS TOWN COUNCIL TIME: 6:00 P.M. – TOWN COUNCIL RECEPTION (Fountain Hills Town Hall Lobby Area) 6:30 P.M. – TOWN COUNCIL REGULAR SESSION WHEN: THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2012 WHERE: FOUNTAIN HILLS COUNCIL CHAMBERS 16705 E. AVENUE OF THE FOUNTAINS, FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ Councilmembers of the Town of Fountain Hills will attend either in person o r by telephone conference call; a quorum of the Town’s various Commissions or Boards may be in attendance at th e Council meeting. Notice is hereby given that pursuant to A.R.S. § 1-602.A.9, subject to certain specified statutory exceptions, parents have a right to consent before the State or any of its political subdivisions make a video or audio recording of a min or child. Meetings of the Town Council are audio and/or video recorded and, as a result, proceedings in which children are present may be subject to such recording. Parents, in order to exercise their rights may either file written consent with the Town Clerk to such recording, or take personal action to ensure that their child or children are not present when a recording may be made. If a child is present at the time a recording is made, the Town will assume that the rights afforded parents pursuant to A.R.S. § 1- 602.A.9 have been waived. PROCEDURE FOR ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL Anyone wishing to speak before the Council must fill out a speaker’s card and submit it to the Town Clerk prior to Council discussion of that Agenda item. Speaker Cards are locate d in the Council Chamber Lobby and near the Clerk’s position on the dais. Speakers will be called in the order in which the speaker cards were received either by the Clerk or the Mayor. At that time, speakers should stand and approach the podium. Spea kers are asked to state their name prior to commenting and to direct their comments to the Presiding Officer and not to individual Councilmembers. Speakers’ statements should not be repetitive. If a speaker chooses not to speak when called, the speaker will be deemed to have waived his or her opportunity to speak on the matter. Speakers may not (i) reserve a portion of their time for a later time or (ii) transfer any portion of their time to another speaker. If there is a Public Hearing, please submit the speaker card to speak to that issue during the Public Hearing. Individual speakers will be allowed three contiguous minutes to address the Council. Time limits may be waived by (i) discretion of the Town Manager upon request by the speaker not less than 24 hours prior to a Meeting, (ii) consensus of the Council at Meeting or (iii) the Mayor either prior to or during a Meeting. As of last year over 100 trees had been planted in Fountain Park. •  McDowell Mtn. Preserve – Some 170 informational, directional and safety signs were installed by volunteers from the Sonoran Conservancy. •  The Town partnered with MCSO and the Coalition to provide alternative activities to keep youth involved in regularly scheduled safe activities in the community •  Senior Services hosted the first ever intergenerational Sock Hop at the Community Center. •  In cooperation with the Public Art Committee acquired and placed on public display over a dozen additional pieces of art. Town Points of Pride (cont.) •  Worked with the Centennial Circle Committee to approve the concept and provide funding for the recently completed Centennial Circle. •  Organized and provided needed funding for a Centennial Celebration Committee for our local event on February 12, 2012 at the Centennial Circle. •  Delivered 8,847 meals to folks in need in our community through the Home Delivered Meals program utilizing volunteers. •  Head the first ever Citizen’s Academy with twelve people graduating from the program •  Completed the first overhaul of two of the motors and pumps that operate the fountain. Part of and supported by Fountain Hills High School’s Hospitality Management Program / FCCLA lead by teacher Claire McWilliams and the Fountain Hills Sister Cities organizations and Honorable Counsel Enrique Melendez Fountain Hills Rural Metro FHFD   FH Paramedics and EMT's significant advancements in Pre-hospital care   FH Paramedics utilize state of the art Diagnostic 12 lead ECG for early detection of acute Myocardial Infarction.  Now someone experiencing an early heart attack medics are now able to relay real time information via blue tooth technology and Town Servers, to Scottsdale Health Care Shea for rapid activation of their Cath lab.  Within the first couple months of utilizing this newer technology several Heart attacks in Fountain Hills were rapidly identified and successful intervened at the local cardiac cath lab.    Ongoing world class clinical trial for closed traumatic head injuries with the level 1 trauma centers Scottsdale Osborne and Maricopa County Medical Center.     New protocols are the most cutting edge pre-hospital treatments for all types of head injuries and Arizona EMS systems have taken the lead. Fountain Hills Sheriff’s Posse The Fountain Hills’ CARE Program continues to respond to our residents in crisis. Since their inception in 2007, these volunteer teams have quadrupled their call volume. In the past year alone, they assisted almost 500 people and donated over 400 hours in service. CARE / FH FH Sheriff’s Posse volunteers thousands of hours each year, helping with patrol, prison transfers, vacation watch, special events and so much more. Each member invests their own money for uniforms, training and gear. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office captures the elusive Rock Burglar Fountain Hills Deputies use all the resources of MCSO to capture the burglar in Fountain Hills and as he was about to victimize another FH family.
