MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE
FOUNTAIN HILLS TOWN COUNCIL
July 16,2001
Mayor Morgan called the special session of the Town Council to order at 5:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL - Present for roll call were the following members of the Fountain Hills Town Council: Mayor
Sharon Morgan, and Councilmembers Leesa Fraverd, Sharon Hutcheson, John Kavanagh, and Susan Ralphe.
Vice Mayor John Wyman and Councilman John McNeill were absent. Also present were Acting Town
Manager/Town Attorney Bill Farrell and Director of Administration/Town Clerk Cassie B.Hansen.
AGENDA ITEM#1. CONSIDERATION OF AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF THE
LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION PREPARED BY COMMUNITY CENTER DIRECTOR
JIM WILLERS FOR THE NEW COMMUNITY CENTER.
Director Willers presented the completed application for the Community Center's liquor license. He
stated that he would personally deliver the documents to the licensing agency for processing. Director
Hansen proposed that a wall be constructed around the outdoor patio area and then apply for a
permanent extension of premise. Mr. Farrell stated that staff recommended approval.
Councilwoman Hutcheson MOVED to adjourn and Councilwoman Fraverd SECONDED the motion, which
CARRIED unanimously.
AGENDA ITEM#2. CONSIDERATION OF THE EXTENSION OF PREMISE/PATIO
PERMIT SUBMITTED BY JAMES MYCZEK FOR GRAPEABLES FINE WINES
LOCATED AT 12645 NORTH SAGUARO BOULEVARD. THE PERMIT IS A
TEMPORARY EXTENSION OF GRAPEABLES' LIQUOR LICENSE ON JULY 21,28,AND
AUGUST 18,2001.
AGENDA ITEM#3. CONSIDERATION OF THE EXTENSION OF PREMISE/PATIO
PERMIT SUBMITTED BY ROSEMARY BARRINGER FOR THE SILVER STEIN
LOCATED AT 17030 ENTERPRISE DRIVE. THE PERMIT IS A TEMPORARY
EXTENSION OF THE STEIN'S LIQUOR LICENSE ON JULY 27,2001.
Director Hansen gave her report on both applications (Grapeables and Silver Stein). She stated that
both applications had been received last week as both applicants had thought there was a second
Council meeting in July. She noted that both applications were routine in nature. Pubic Safety
Director Gendler stated that he would call on Mr. Myczek (Grapeables) to ensure that the area would
be secure. Director Hansen recommended approval. Mayor Morgan felt having Director Gendler pay
a call on Mr. Myczek (Grapeables)was in order due to area not being secure at their last event held on
July 4, 2001.
Councilman Kavanagh MOVED to approve both extension of premise/patio permits for the Silver Stein and
Grapeables as presented and Councilwoman Ralphe SECONDED the motion, which CARRIED
unanimously.
AGENDA ITEM#4. ADJOURNMENT
Councilwoman Hutcheson MOVED to adjourn and Councilwoman Fraverd SECONDED the motion, which
CARRIED unanimously. Mayor Morgan adjourned the meeting at 5:10 p.m.
