I have always had a serious interest in serving the needs of the people, and I feel I have the desire and expertise to be proficient in serving on the planning and zoning commission. I have sufficient background in real estate and property being previously licensed in Michigan as a real estate broker, a builder, and level I appraiser from 1986 through 1997. In addition at the real estate company I was employed, I served in capacity of co-manager of the condominium sales projects. My primary field of training, education, and expertise has been in education/therapy. That is why I returned to the field working for Fountain Hills Unified School District as a counselor and vocational director. Working in this town with the students and parents, I am able to often hear the concerns and needs of the individuals of the town. I can use this information also to assess the needs of the town. I am concerned with the future of Fountain Hills.....and meeting the needs of all the populace as much as it is reasonable and we are able as a town. I am concerned with the financial future of the town. I would not describe myself as a"diehard"preservationist, nor am I pro builder. Decisions have to be made that are in the best interest of the whole. Views of seniors should not outweigh youth, rich should not outweigh poor. Fountain Hills is simply a microcosm of the world and decisions made that are in the best interest of the whole. I will take the time to assess the situations that come before planning and zoning. I will research when needed and physically examine the circumstances. I am able to listen to the views of all people, I am open minded. I am a decision maker, not a procrastinator. I will support any views that I have with sound evidence and good reasoning. I hope that you will consider me for a position on the planning and zoning commission. Karen A. Rutkowski L Karen A. Fox 22May00 As a resident of Fountain Hills, I have a strong desire to serve my neighbors and help to secure our future. We must take every opportunity to insure that we control the journey we are on. In the years that Maggie and I have lived here, I have watched our town grow from an adolescence to adulthood, as adults we are challenged to control our future. I feel my experience will assist our town government in meeting that challenge. With the development of the town center we are on the correct path to focus growth in the downtown area. Its clear that there will be some level of development at Shea and Sagauro. However, our greatest immediate need is to control the mountain preservation issue to the goals of the town council and citizens. I am committed to using our ordinances to meet the future needs of our community and control change to our advantage. Jp/ /9j L
