MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
March 15,2018
A public meeting of the Fountain Hills Board of Adjustment was convened and called to order
by Chairman Paul Ryan at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2018, in the Town Hall Council
Chambers located at 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Hills,Arizona.
AGENDA ITEM #1 CALL TO ORDER, PLEDGE TO THE FLAG, MOMENT OF
SILENT REFLECTION,AND ROLL CALL.
Present for the meeting were Chairman Paul Ryan, Vice-Chairman Carol Perica and Board
Members Daniel Halloran, and Nick Sehman. Also present were Robert Rodgers,
Development Services Director, Marissa Moore, Senior Planner, and Paula Woodward
Executive Assistant and recorder of the minutes. John Kovac III was absent.

AGENDA ITEM#2 NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF A CHAIRMAN AND VICE-
CHAIRMAN FOR A ONE (1) YEAR TERM.
Chairman Ryan asked for nominations for Vice-Chairman. Chairman Ryan made a
MOTION to nominate Carol Perica and Board Member Halloran SECONDED and the
MOTION passed, 4-0, by those present. Carol Perica was elected Vice-Chairman for the
Board of Adjustment from February 28,2018 through February 28, 2019.
Chairman Paul Ryan, asked for nominations for Chairman. Vice-Chairman Carol Perica made
a MOTION to nominate Paul Ryan and Boardmember Nick Sehman SECONDED and the
MOTION passed, 4-0, by those present. Paul Ryan was elected Chairman of the Board of
Adjustment from February 28, 2018 through February 28, 2019.
AGENDA ITEM #3 CONSIDERATION OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
MEETING MINUTES FOR JUNE 20,2017.
Vice-Chairman Carol Perica made a MOTION to approve the meeting minutes from the June
20, 2017 Board of Adjustment meeting. Boardmember Halloran, SECONDED and the
MOTION passed 4-0,by those present.
AGENDA ITEM#4 TRAINING BY THE TOWN ATTORNEY, SCOTT HOLCOMB.
Interim Town Attorney Scott Holcomb presented a PowerPoint presentation, (Copy is on
file in the Development Services Department.) Mr. Holcomb explained that the purpose of

the the training is to refresh the board of how a hearing is conducted and rules and
procedures that apply to the Board of Adjustment. After the presentation, a discussion
took place among the boardmembers and Mr. Holcomb.
AGENDA ITEM#4 ADJOURNMENT.
Vice-Chairman Perica made a MOTION to adjourn the meeting and Boardmember Halloran
SECONDED and the MOTION passed 4-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
