ITEM#1: CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
A meeting of the Community Services Advisory Commission was convened and called to order by
Director Mark Mayer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2014 in the Council Chambers at Town
Hall, located at 16705 East Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Hills, Arizona.
In attendance at roll call were Commissioners Sherman Abrahamson, Nancy Blumenstein, Patt
Canning, Don Doty, Jerry Gorrell, Geoffrey Harper, Lynne Mott, Jim Judge, Ron Ruppert, Danny
Tancredi, and Greg Woo. Absent at roll call were Commissioners Gerald Colbert, Natalie Varela, and
Donna Yordy. Director Mark Mayer, Recreation Supervisor Rachael Goodwin, Senior Services
Supervisor Kelley Fonville, Parks Supervisor Don Clark, Community Center Events and Operations
Supervisor Mike Fenzel, and Executive Assistant Nancy Walter represented staff
ITEM #2: CALL TO THE PUBLIC
No one from the public wished to speak.
ITEM #3: INTRODUCTIONS OF THE COMMISSIONERS AND STAFF
Director Mayer introduced the four Division Supervisors and each Commissioner said which
Commission they had served on and for how long.
ITEM#4: PRESENTATION OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Director Mayer, Recreation Supervisor Goodwin, Senior Services Supervisor Fonville, Parks
Supervisor Clark, and Community Center Events and Operations Supervisor Fenzel presented the
attached Community Services Department presentation.
• The Disc Golf Club has helped with volunteer hours and fundraising for the disc golf course
improvements at Fountain Park
• The Volunteer/Business Expo and the Activities Expo will combine for their January 2015
event
• Community Services staff reviews external events applications for proper permits, road
closures, security, etc.
• Director Mayer will send information to the Commission regarding increased tax revenue
during the two Chamber Fairs
• Four Peaks Park's Master Plan will be completed when funding is available
• The Community Center hosts monthly art displays that are open to the public; some groups that
display art include the Fountain Hills Photo Club, Contemporary Water Color Association, and
Fountain Hills High School

ITEM #5: CONSIDERATION OF APPROVING THE MARCH 17, 2014 COMMUNITY
CENTER ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Commissioner Harper made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 17, 2014 Community Center
Advisory Commission meeting, Commissioner Blumenstein seconded and the motion passed by
unanimous vote.
ITEM #6: CONSIDERATION OF APPROVING THE MARCH 24, 2014 SENIOR SERVICES
ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Commissioner Judge made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 24, 2014 Senior Services
Advisory Commission meeting, Commissioner Abrahamson seconded and the motion passed by
unanimous vote.
ITEM #7: CONSIDERATION OF APPROVING THE MAY 12, 2014 PARKS & RECREATION
COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
Commissioner Tancredi made a motion to accept the minutes of the May 12, 2014 Parks and
Recreation Commission meeting, Commissioner Doty seconded and the motion passed by unanimous
vote.
ITEM #8: CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTING THE COMMISSION CHAIR
Commissioner Doty made a motion to appoint Commissioner Varela as the Commission Chair,
Commissioner Judge made a motion to appoint Commissioner Abrahamson as the Commission Chair;
by a show of hands, eight of the Commissioners voted to appoint Commissioner Varela as Chair and
three voted to appoint Commissioner Abrahamson as Chair. Commissioner Varela was appointed as
the Commission Chair.
ITEM #9: CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTING THE COMMISSION VICE-CHAIR
Commissioner Woo made a motion to appoint Commissioner Abrahamson as the Commission Vice-
Chair, Commissioner Mott seconded and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
ITEM #10: CONSIDERATION OF ADJOURNMENT
Vice-Chair Abrahamson made a motion to adjourn at 6:06 p.m., Commissioner Doty seconded and the
motion passed by unanimous vote.
