JANUARY 26, 2017 AGENDA ITEM#1—CALL TO ORDER A public meeting of the Strategic Planning Advisory Commission was convened and called to order by Chair Dana Saar at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, located at 16705 East Avenue of the Fountains,Fountain Hills,Arizona. AGENDA ITEM#2—ROLL CALL Present at roll call were Chair Dana Saar, Vice-Chair Peter Bordow, Commissioners Tammy Bell, Gerard Bisceglia,John W. Craft,Jr.,Bernie Hoenle, and John McHugh. Staff members present were Town Manager Grady Miller and Executive Assistant Nancy Walter. AGENDA ITEM#3—CALL TO THE PUBLIC No one spoke at the Call to the Public. AGENDA ITEM#4—INTRODUCTION OF COMMISSIONER JOHN MCHUGH Chair Saar introduced Commissioner John McHugh. Commissioner McHugh gave a brief bio. AGENDA ITEM #5 — CONSIDERATION OF APPROVING THE NOVEMBER 30, 2016 MEETING MINUTES Vice-Chair Bordow MOVED to approve the November 30, 2016 meeting minutes; Commissioner McHugh SECONDED the motion,which CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY by those present. AGENDA ITEM#6—CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTING THE COMMISSION CHAIR Commissioner Bordow MOVED to appoint Dana Saar as the Commission Chair, Commissioner Bell SECONDED the motion,which CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY by those present. AGENDA ITEM#7—CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTING THE COMMISSION VICE-CHAIR Commissioner Craft MOVED to appoint Peter Bordow as the Commission Vice-Chair, Commissioner Bisceglia SECONDED the motion,which CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY by those present. AGENDA ITEM #8 — DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE CONSIDERATION OF UPDATING THE STRATEGIC PLAN Grady Miller reviewed the attached Town of Fountain Hills Strategic Plan,which he noted is the Operation Plan to implement the Strategic Plan. Chair Saar discussed the attached Action Items document and each Commissioner prioritized the action items. Chair Saar and Mr. Miller explained that a Gantt chart could be placed on the Town's website so that staff and the Town's residents could keep informed of the status of each item. Jerry Butler, a resident of Fountain Hills, spoke on this item and distributed the attached FH 2016 Strategic Plan document, which, he said, has many of the same subjects as the 2005 and 2010 Strategic Plans. He reminded the Commissioners of the Town's Mission Statement; to serve the best interests of the community. Mr. Butler urged the Commission to keep the Strategic Plan as simple as possible, prioritize, and not to put in measurements regarding what has been accomplished. Strategic Planning Advisory Commission Page 1 of 2 Mr. Miller invited the Commissioners to attend the Council Budget Retreat on February 9th and the February 14th Council Work Study Session regarding the Town's proposed Strategic Plan.
