A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
FOUNTAIN HILLS, ARIZONA, RELATING TO THE FOUNTAIN HILLS
CENTENNIAL PROJECT.
WHEREAS, a group of Town citizens has formed the Fountain Hills Centennial
Commission (the "Centennial Commission ") which has spearheaded the development of a legacy
project in preparation for the celebration of the State of Arizona's Centennial (which will occur
on February 14, 2012), including the installation of certain Centennial celebration improvements
on Town of Fountain Hills (the "Town ") property generally located on the circular area of land
between the Fountain Hills Community Center and the Town's Library (the "Centennial
Circle "); and
WHEREAS, the Centennial Circle improvements will incorporate a ten -foot diameter
replication of the Arizona Centennial Seal, and bases for five monuments to be installed around
the circular area to recognize the "Five C's" of Arizona - Cattle, Copper, Citrus, Cotton and
Climate (the "Legacy Project "); and
WHEREAS, the Centennial Commission has, among its purposes, (i) securing design
alternatives and raising funds for the Legacy Project, subject to approval of such improvements
by the Town Council, (ii) assisting with the development of the Town Council approved
Centennial Circle improvements and (iii) providing the Arizona Centennial Commission
information, as may be deemed appropriate, regarding the Legacy Project and any other
Centennial celebration activities planned for the Town.
WHEREAS, the Town has the opportunity to participate in and encourage the
development of the Legacy Project and other Centennial events throughout the Town; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Fountain Hills (the "Town
Council ") desires to authorize the Centennial Commission to continue with its efforts related to
the Legacy Project work on Centennial Circle and to offer Town support of such efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS as follows:
SECTION 1. The recitals above are hereby incorporated as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2. The Town Council hereby authorizes and directs the Town Manager to (i)
provide reasonable staff support to the Centennial Commission related to the Legacy Project and
other Centennial celebration activities and (ii) include, as part of the process for preparing the
2011 -2012 Town budget, analysis of the means by which the Town Council may authorize
financial contributions to the Legacy Project.

SECTION 3. The Mayor, the Town Manager, the Town Clerk and the Town Attorney
are hereby authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent
of this Resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Fountain Hills,
Arizona, January 20, 2011.
