M'JfEREJAS,theTownofFountain Hills iscommittedtoensuringthesafetyandsecurityofallthose living
in and visiting our community;and
"WtfEREJAS,homefires killed morethan 2,600 peopleinthe United States in 2010,andfiredepartments
intheUnited States responded to more than 369,000 home fires;and
'WJ-fEREJAS,residentswhohaveplannedandpracticedahomefire escape planaremorepreparedand
will therefore be more likelyto survive afire;and
y/J-C'ERTJAS,working smokealarmscuttheriskofdyinginreportedhomefiresin half;and
'WJ-fEREJAS,the Town ofFountain Hills'first respondersarededicatedtoreducingtheoccurrenceofhome
fires and home fire injuries through prevention and protection education;and
IVJ-lEREJAS,Townof Fountain Hills residents are responsive topublic education measures and areableto
take personal steps to increase their safety fromfire,especially in their homes;and
'WJ-fEREJAS,the 2012 FirePreventionMonththeme,"HaveTwoWays Out!"effectively serves toremind
usto develop and practice home fire escape plans duringFire Prevention Month and year-round.
NOlY,TJ-fEREfORE,I,Mayor Linda M.KavanaghoftheTownofFountain Hills,Arizona,dohereby
proclaim the month of October,2012,as Fire Prevention Month and urge all residents to practice their home
fire escape plan during Fire Prevention Month 2012 and to support the many public safety activities and
effortsof the Town's fire and emergency services.
