Whereas, the War of 1812 tested the mettle of Americans on both Land and Sea, and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper that we recognize the sacrifices of those who fought
in the War of 1812 to preserve the blessing of Liberty for future generations of
Americans, and
Whereas, we remember these breve patriots every time we sing our national anthem, the
Star Spangled Banner, and recall the valor of those who bravely defended Fort McHenry,
and
Whereas, it is our hope that the proud spangled banner which waved over Fort McHenry
shall never be forgotten and that it may ever wave over this land of the free and home of
the brave.
Now therefore, 1, Mayor Linda M. Kavanagh, do hereby proclaim the years 2012
through 2015 as the Bicentennial Years of the War of 1812 in the Town of Fountain
Hills, Arizona.
