A LION OF THE MAYOR AND CODICIL OF THE TOM OF F UNTAIN HILLS,
MARICIOPA OOINff, ARIZO k. DE)aMING AND ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE
PRIMARY ELECTION iiQJ) ON MARCH 27, 1990; AND ORDERING THE RECORDING
OF SUCH RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the Town Council of Fountain Hills, Maricopa County, Arizona by
Resolution No. 1990 -7, adopted on the 15th day of February, 1990, did cause to
be submitted to the qualified electors of the town at a primary election called
and held in and for the Town on the 27th day of March, 1990 for the nomination
and /or possible election of seven Town Councilmembers; and
WHEREAS, the town council did cause notice of the primary election to be
given by the Town Clerk publishing notice thereof in the Times newspaper as
provided by law, such newpaper published in and having general circulation within
said town, which said notice as so published did specify the time and place
whereat such election was to be held, copy of said notice with the affidavit of
publication attached thereto, being now on file and a part of the official
records of the town council of said town, and
WHEREAS, the election returns have been presented to and have been
canvassed by the town council.
NOW, -rAMM ORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Fountain Hills, Maricopa County, Arizona, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the total number of ballots cast at said primary election,
as shown by the poll lists, was 2,042.
SECTION 2. That the number of questioned ballots was 8, and that voters
found to be ineligible were 1.
SECTION 3. That the votes cast for the candidates for councilmember were
as follows:

SECTION 4. That is hereby found,
determined and declared of record, that
the following 5 candidates
did receive
more than one -half of the total
number
of valid votes cast and are
hereby issued certificates of election:

(Ww", SECTION 5. That is hereby found, determined and declared of record, that
the following 4 candidates did receive the next greatest number of votes of the
ri ecton of the tome voting at said election and shall have their names placed
on the general municipal election ballot of the Town of Fountain Hills, Maricopa
County, Arizona, to be held on the 15th day of May, 1990, and are hereby issued
certificates of nomination.

SECTION 6. That is hereby found, determined and declared of record, that
the ballot question of 4 -year staggered terms received a majority of affirmative
valid votes cast by the qualified electors of the town and shall cause the 7
elected councilmembers to be divided by lot into classes. The first class shall
consist of 3 counci lmembers who will hold office for 2 years and the second class
shall consist of 4 councilmembers who will hold office for 4 years. The votes
cast for this question were as follows:
For 4 -year staggered terms 1271
Against 4 -year staggered terms 500
SECTION 7. That all orders or resolutions in conflict be and the same are,
to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed, and that this resolution be in
full force and effect ininediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY the Mayor and Council of the Town of Fountain Hills,
Arizona, this 5th day of April, 1990.
