RESOLUTION NO. 1991 -31
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN
HILLS, RELATING TO THE BEELINE HIGHWAY'S (ROUTE 87) PLACEMENT ON THE
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S 5 -YEAR CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Arizona Department Of Transportation's fiscal year 1992 -96
tentative 5 -year construction program recommends a delay in Beeline Highway
construction from 1992 to 1996; and
WHEREAS, this change continues to be unacceptable to the Mayor, Common
Council and citizens of Fountain Hills; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, Common Council, Town Manager and other Fountain Hills
residents gave testimony at the recent Arizona Department of Transportation Board
Public Hearing encouraging a change in the proposed 5 -year plan to return to the
original schedule as adopted in the 1991 -95 5 -year construction plan; and
WHEREAS, the Priority Planning Committee has chosen not to move the Beeline
Highway construction project up to its original schedule;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the
Town of Fountain Hills do hereby request that the Arizona Department Of
Transportation Board, in spite of the recommendation of its Priority Planning
Committee, place Beeline Highway construction on its original schedule as
promised in the 1991-95, 5 -year plan;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council recognizes and
acknowledges the efforts that the Arizona Department of Transportation has made
to speed up the plans for this vital project and now it is necessary and prudent
that firm goals for accomplishment be set, and therefore this request is hereby
made to have the plan be returned to its original schedule.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of May, 1991, b the Mayor and Common
Council of the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona.
