HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1991-38L" (o RESOLUTION NO. 1991 -38 I A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS, ARIZONA, SUPPORTING AND URGING THE INCLUSION IN THE 1991/92 LEAGUE OF ARIZONA CITIES AND TOWNS MUNICIPAL POLICY STATEMENT, A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION OF THE CURRENT METHOD OF DISTRIBUTION OF STATE COLLECTED, LOCALLY SHARED REVENUES TO CITIES AND TOWNS. WHEREAS, the Arizona League of Cities and Towns will adopt a annual Policy Statement at its conference in Yuma; and WHEREAS, the purpose of this policy statement is to give direction to League staff concerning its work with the State Legislature; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the Town of Fountain Hills to sponsor or co- sponsor items of municipal interest. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Fountain Hills urges the League of Arizona Cities and Towns at its annual conference to be held in Yuma, Arizona, on Wednesday, October 23, 1991, to adopt the following Resolution for inclusion in it's Municipal Policy Statement: "URGES THE CONTINUATION OF UNIFIED LOCAL EFFORTS TO RETAIN THE CURRENT DISTRIBUTION OF STATE COLLECTED, LOCALLY SHARED REVENUES TO CITIES AND TOWNS. ONCE AGAIN, THE RETENTION OF STATE SHARED REVENUES SHOULD BE OUR COLLECTIVE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY AT THE LEGISLATURE. ALTHOUGH CITIES AND TOWNS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN RETAINING THESE MONIES FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS, WE MUST CONTINUE TO FOCUS OUR UNDIVIDED EFFORTS ON ENSURING THAT THESE MONIES CONTINUE TO BE RETURNED TO CITIES AND TOWNS."
