AJOINTRESOLUTIONOFTHETOWNSOF FOUNTAIN HILLS,
GUADALUPE,CAVE CREEK,CAREFREE,QUEEN CREEK,AND GILA
BEND ESTABLISHING A UNIFORM POSITION CONCERNING THE
COSTS OF CONTRACT LAW-ENFORCEMENT SERVICES PROVIDED
TO THESE COMMUNITIES BY MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF'S
OFFICE.
WHEREAS,the above-referenced towns all contract for enhanced law-enforcement
servicesfromMaricopaCounty Sheriffs Office;and
WHEREAS,the towns recognize and appreciate the law-enforcement services they are
nowreceivingfromMaricopaCounty Sheriffs Office;and
WHEREAS,contractualarrangementsaredeemedbeneficialtoboththetownsandthe
county;and
WHEREAS,the Sheriffs Office,bystate statue,isgiventhedutyto enforce criminal
lawona county-wide basis;and
WHEREAS,thetownsarewillingto reimburse thecountyforthe additional coststhe
Sheriffs Officeincursforproviding enhanced law-enforcement servicestotheircommunities;
and
WHEREAS,theresidentsofthesetownsarecountycitizensaswellasresidents of the
individual townsandpay county aswellastowntaxes;and
WHEREAS,thesetownswishtodevelopajointpositionregardingtheamountthetowns
individuallypayforenhancedlaw-enforcementservicestoMaricopaCounty Sheriffs Office;and
WHEREAS,thetownswishtoworktoprovideefficientandeffectivelaw-enforcement
servicesatthelowestpossiblecoststotheirrespectiveresidents;and
WHEREAS,thesetownswishtoworkwiththe Sheriffs Officeandotherappropriate
countyofficialstodeterminefairandequitableamountseachcommunityshouldpayforits'
separate law-enforcement services;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED bytheMayorandCommonCouncilofthe
TownofFountainHillsthattheamountstobepaidbyeachtownshouldbetailoredtotheir
specificlaw-enforcementneedsandtheirindividualabilitytopay;butinnocaseshouldthe
amountspaidbe greater thanthe additional costs incurred bythe Sheriffs Officetoprovidelaw-
enforcement serves for each town.
C BEIT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town of Fountain Hills pledges to aid the other
townsin achieving thegoalssetforthherein.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this (g+h day of ApWl ,1995,by the
Mayor and Common Council of the Town of Fountain Hills.
