RESOLUTION 1994-36
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS,MARICOPA COUNTY,ARIZONA,
ADOPTING A STATEMENT OF VALUES FOR THE MARICOPA
COUNTY REGION AS PREPARED BY THE MARICOPA ASSOCIATION
OF GOVERNMENTS REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL.
WHEREAS,It is recognized that the Maricopa Association of Governments is a voluntary
association representing jurisdictions in Maricopa County; and
WHEREAS,The Town of Fountain Hills is a voting member of the Maricopa Association of
Government;and
WHEREAS,The Town of Fountain Hills participated in the development of a Statement of
Values representing the aspirations of members of the Maricopa Association of
Governments,and as a member of the Maricopa Association of Governments the
Town of Fountain Hills participated in a unanimous vote to support a voluntary
regional planning effort to:
•Develop a set of Values and Goals against which the benefits of alternative
regional urban form, open space, and other regional issues that can be
measured.
•Develop a set of mutually reinforcing regional values to minimize the
potential of conflicts between various regional policies to accomplish
regional human service,air quality,solid waste,open space,transportation,
water management, economic development,fiscal,and cultural goals.
•Provide coordination to assist the region in accomplishing its goals
efficiently without duplication of effort that frequently occurs when
several,seemingly disjointed efforts are taking place simultaneously.
• Address the effects of unplanned regional development in a proactive
manner to preempt the potential for stringent statewide legislation which
restricts the ability of municipalities to make independent decisions
regarding its general plans;and
WHEREAS,The Town of Fountain Hills participated in a February 23, 1994 Maricopa
Association of Governments Regional Council vote to adopt a Regional Values
Statement which sets forth the values,or regional planning goals for the region;
NOW THEREFORE,The Mayor and Common Council of the Town of Fountain Hills,
Arizona,hereby adopts the Maricopa Association of Governments
Regional Values as a statement of regional planning goals.

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of August, 1994 by the Mayor and Common Council
of the Town of Fountain Hills,Arizona.
