A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS,ARIZONA
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND TOWN
CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR THE
TOWNS PARTICIPATION IN THE MEDIA ALERT SYSTEM;
AND,DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS,TheArizonaDepartmentofPublicSafetymakesavailabletocertain
qualifiedagenciesparticipationinaprogramknownastheMediaAlertSystem;and,
WHEREAS,theTownofFountainHillsqualifiesasoneofthoseagencies;and,
WHEREAS,itis in the best interests of the citizens and the residents of the Town of
FountainHillstobeabletoobtainaccurateinformationfromasmanysourcesaspossibleincase
of an emergency;
NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS,ARIZONA AS FOLLOWS:
Section1.ThattheMayorandTownClerkareherebyauthorizedanddirectedtoexecutean
agreement betweenthe Town andtheArizona Department of Public Safetyforthe participation
bytheTown of Fountain Hills inthe Media AlertSystem.
Section2.Thatthepersonsholdingthefollowingofficesareauthorizedpersonnelwithinthe
meaning of the Media Alert System:Mayor,ViceMayor,Manager,Clerk,and Marshall.
Section3.Whereas,theimmediateprotectionofthehealth,safety,andwelfare of thecitizens
and residents of the Town of Fountain Hillsisbest served by declaring this matter tobean
emergency measure,andassuch,uponits passage shall become immediately effective andshall
notbe subject tothe provisions of referendum.
