HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 2001-08c RESOLUTION 2001-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS,ARIZONA,URGING THE ARIZONA STATE LAND DEPARTMENT,THE CONSERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE,AND THE COMMISSIONER,TO LOOK WITH FAVOR UPON THE REQUEST OF THE CITY OF SCOTTSDALE FOR CLASSIFICATION OF 16,600 ACRES OF STATE TRUST LAND IN THE CITY OF SCOTTSDALE TO THE CLASSIFICATION AS SUITABLE FOR CONSERVATION PURPOSES WHEREAS,theTownofFountainHills,sinceitsincorporation,hassharedmanygoalsand programs with the City of Scottsdale;and WHEREAS,bothmunicipalitieshaveworkedlongandhardonmutuallysharedgoalsof preservation and conservation;and WHEREAS,theArizonaStateLandDepartmenthassetapublichearingfor Thursday, February 15,2001for public testimony onthe request for conservation status of the state-owned land;and WHEREAS,theMayorandCounciloftheTownofFountainHillswillbe conducting its regularly scheduled Town Council meeting onthe evening of February 15,2001andwillnotbe ableto attend and give public testimony: NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS: Section1.That attached tothis Resolution as Exhibit "A"isamapdepictingthe16,600 acres of state trust land that the City of Scottsdale desires tohave reclassified as suitable for conservation purposes. Section2.ThattheTownof Fountain Hillsfindsthatsucha request clearly appearstobein thebest interest of the Trust,andthatthe application bythe City of Scottsdale for reclassification is wholly supported and endorsed hereby. Section3.Thatuponpassageofthis Resolution,theTownClerkisdirectedtoprepare certified copiesofthis Resolution and distribute thesamepriorto February 15, 2001tothe Arizona State Land Department and tothe Commissioner for distribution tothe Conservation Advisory Committee.That a certified copyof this Resolution be sent tothe City of Scottsdale with a request that itbe included inthe material they submit on the evening of February 15,2001.
