HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018.0911.CCSM.Minutes TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FOUNTAIN HILLS TOWN COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 11, 2018 1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL — Mayor Linda M. Kavanagh Mayor Kavanagh called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Fountain Hills Town Hall Council Chambers. Present for roll call were the following members of the Town Council: Mayor Linda Kavanagh, Vice Mayor Dennis Brown, Councilmember Henry Leger (telephonically), Councilmember Alan Magazine (telephonically), and Councilmember Nick DePorter (telephonically); members absent: Councilmember Art Tolis. Others present: Town Manager Grady E. Miller; Interim Town Attorney Mitesh Patel, Dickinson Wright Law Firm; and Town Clerk Elizabeth A. Burke. 2. CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS All items listed on the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine, non-controversial matters and will be enacted by one motion and one roll call vote of the Council. All motions and subsequent approvals of consent items will include all recommended staff stipulations unless otherwise stated. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a councilmember or member of the public so requests. If a councilmember or member of the public wishes to discuss an item on the Consent Agenda, he/she may request so prior to the motion to accept the Consent Agenda or with notification to the Town Manager or Mayor prior to the date of the meeting for which the item was scheduled. The items will be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered in its normal sequence on the agenda. A. CONSIDERATION OF Resolution No. 2018-52, declaring and adopting the results of the Primary Election held on August 28, 2018. B. CONSIDERATION OF approving a Special Event Liquor License Application for Fountain Events, Inc. (Christine Colley) for the Oktoberfest Event being held in Fountain Park, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2018, through Saturday, September 29, 2018. Vice Mayor Brown MOVED to approve the Consent Agenda as listed and Councilmember Leger SECONDED the motion; passed unanimously. 3. REGULAR AGENDA A. CONSIDERATION OF Resolution No. 2018-54, approving Intergovernmental Agreements with the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation relating to Proposition 202 funding. Town Manager Grady Miller said that they decided to put this on the regular agenda because it is an important item brought about by the Gaming Compact for communities adjacent to gaming facilities that are eligible for grant assistance through Proposition 202. He said that this year organizations within Fountain Hills were awarded over $106,000 in grants, and he was pleased to report that the Town of Fountain Hills was awarded a $10,000 grant to help promote golf as a destination in town. FOUNTAIN HILLS TOWN COUNCIL Special Meeting of September 11, 2018 Page 2 Mayor Kavanagh stated that she attended the award ceremony to receive the Town's check and the others were there as well. She said that so many people applied and the Nation had said they wished they could give to everyone as all of the causes touched their hearts. She added that Fountain Hills was very fortunate that they chose the Town and they are great neighbors. Vice Mayor Brown MOVED to adopt Resolution 2018-54; Councilmember Leger SECONDED the motion; passed unanimously. 4. ADJOURNMENT. Vice Mayor Brown MOVED to adjourn the meeting at 5:06 p.m. and Councilmember DePorter SECONDED the motion; passed unanimously.
