MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE
FOUNTAIN HILLS TOWN COUNCIL
JULY 26, 1996
A public meeting of the Fountain Hills Town Council was convened and called to order by Vice Mayor Lawrence
at 9:15 A.M., Friday, July 26, 1996, in the Fountain Hills Town Hall Conference Room, located at 16836 E.
Palisades Blvd., Building C, Fountain Hills, Arizona.
ROLL CALL - Following the pledge to the flag and the invocation by Vice Mayor Lawrence, roll call was taken.
Present for roll call were the following members of the Fountain Hills Town Council: Vice Mayor Lawrence and
Councilmembers Marianne Wiggishoff, Al Poma and Penfield Mower. Absent were Mayor Miles and Councilman
Apps and O'Brien. Also present was Town Clerk Cassie Hansen.
AGENDA ITEM#2-CONSIDERATION OF THE SPECIAL EVENT REQUEST SUBMITTED BY TERRY
MERRELL FOR THE SUNSET KIWANIS FOR A DUATHLON TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY, JULY 28,
1996 FROM 6:00 A.M. TO 10:00 A.M. NO STREET CLOSURES ARE REQUIRED.
Councilman Poma MOVED to approve the special event request submitted for the Sunset Kiwanis Duathlon on July
28, 1996. Councilwoman Wiggishoff SECONDED the motion.
Vice Mayor Lawrence AMENDED the motion to include for a change in the route as presented due to a conflict
with the box culvert construction on Fountain Hills Boulevard. Councilwoman Wiggishoff SECONDED the
11110, amendment which CARRIED unanimously.
The motion to approve the special event request CARRIED unanimously.
AGENDA ITEM#3 - CALL TO THE PUBLIC. (PUBLIC COMMENT IS ENCOURAGED BUT PLEASE
BE ADVISED THAT THE COUNCIL HAS NO ABILITY TO RESPOND OR DISCUSS MATTERS
BROUGHT UP DURING THE CALL TO THE PUBLIC AS SUCH DISCUSSION IS PROHIBITED BY THE
ARIZONA OPEN MEETING LAW.)
Mr. Terry Merrell thanked the Council for scheduling a special meeting to approve the Sunset Kiwanis request.
AGENDA ITEM #4 - ADJOURNMENT.
Councilman Mower MOVED to adjourn the meeting. Councilwoman Wiggishoff SECONDED the motion which
CARRIED unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
