WHEREAS,serious social problems concern our nation, state, and town,and threaten our -\y�

future; and,

. .\ WHEREAS, connecting with others and working together through volunteer service can bridge f //
�' the differences that separate people and help solve serious social problems; and, T

WHEREAS,we, the American people and the residents of Fountain Hills, have a tradition of 't 1/
philanthropy and volunteerism; and, i
uV� WHEREAS, in 2017, almost five million people cared enough about their communities to /
/ — volunteer on MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of
'\ / as, cities and towns; and, ; . \ /

WHEREAS, in our community, nonprofit organizations, schools, businesses, houses of worship,
/ families, neighborhoods,and friends serve together to make a difference; and

I WHEREAS, 2018 makes the 10th year for Fountain Hills to demonstrate that it is the small town T r
with a big heart; and ,.
WHEREAS,the Town of Fountain Hills supports a vibrant community to enrich the lives of our
residents;

WHEREAS, I, Linda M. Kavanagh, Mayor of the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona, do hereby
i AY, proclaim October 27, 2018 as MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY in Fountain Hills, and urge all citizens to ,*<\ /
// participate in volunteer projects as we work together to meet the needs of our neighbors. ,
