A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
FOUNTAIN HILLS, ARIZONA, APPROVING THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN
HILLS HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN.
WHEREAS, Maricopa County has historically experienced severe damage from natural
and human-caused hazards such as flooding, wildfire, drought, severe weather and hazardous
materials incidents resulting in loss of property and life, economic hardship and threats to public
health and safety; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fountain Hills Hazard Mitigation Plan (the "Plan") has been
developed after more than one year of research and work by the Town of Fountain Hills (the
"Town") in association and cooperation with the Maricopa Hazard Planning Group for the
reduction of hazard risk to the community; and
WHEREAS, the Plan specifically addresses hazard mitigation actions and projects that
will provide mitigation for specific natural and human caused hazards that impact the Town with
the effect of protecting people and property from loss associated with those hazards; and
WHEREAS, a public meeting was held to present the Plan for comment and review as
required by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Plan is hereby approved and adopted in the form attached hereto
as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by this reference.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor, the Town Manager, the Town Clerk and the Town
Attorney are hereby authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose
and intent of this Resolution.
