A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
FOUNTAIN HILLS, ARIZONA, DECLARING SUPPORT FOR UPDATING
THE GENERAL PLAN 2002.
WHEREAS, on June 20, 2002, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Fountain Hills
(the "Town Council") adopted Resolution No. 2002-24 approving General Plan 2002; and
WHEREAS, the approval of General Plan 2002 by the Town Council was ratified by a
vote of the electorate of the Town of Fountain Hills on September 10, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the area of the Town increased by 1,311 acres, or 11 percent on May 4,
2006, with the annexation of a large parcel of State Trust Land; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fountain Hills Strategic Plan, Our Town, Our Choices, was
adopted on December 1, 2005 and includes information that should be incorporated into the
Town General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to have a General Plan that more accurately
reflects current conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fountain Hills has provided funds in the adopted FY 07-08
Budget for updating General Plan 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Town Council officially acknowledges its support for updating the
General Plan 2002 to further the community's goals and desires.
SECTION 2. That the Town of Fountain Hills will provide matching funding from the
Town's General Fund in an amount not to exceed$10,000 to secure a Growing Smarter Planning
Grant.
SECTION 3. That the Town Council is committed to implementing the General Plan
2002 to further community goals and desires.
