MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE FOUNTAIN HILLS TOWN COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 8, 2020
CALL TO ORDER — Mayor Dickey
Mayor Dickey called the Special Meeting of the Fountain Hills Town Council held September 8,
2020, to order at 5:32 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL — Mayor Dickey
Present: Mayor Ginny Dickey; Councilmember Art Tolis; Councilmember Dennis Brown;
Councilmember Alan Magazine; Councilmember David Spelich
Absent: Vice Mayor Mike Scharnow
Staff Town Manager Grady E. Miller; Town Attorney Aaron D. Arnson; Town Clerk Elizabeth
Present: A. Burke; Public Works Director Justin Weldy (telephonically)
3. RECESS INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION
MOVED BY Councilmember David Spelich, SECONDED BY Councilmember Alan Magazine to
recess into Executive Session.
Vote: 5 - 0 Passed - Unanimously
4. EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Fountain Hills Town Council recessed into Executive Session at 5:32 p.m.
With Mr. Weldy on the telephone, the Town Council discussed Item 4.B.i first.
A. Discussion or consideration of employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, demotion,
dismissal, salaries, disciplining or resignation of a public officer, appointee or employee of any
public body, except that, with the exception of salary discussions, an officer, appointee or
employee may demand that the discussion or consideration occur at a public meeting. The public
body shall provide the officer, appointee or employee with written notice of the executive session
as is appropriate but not less than twenty-four hours for the officer, appointee or employee to
determine whether the discussion or consideration should occur at a public meeting, pursuant to
A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(1).

B. Discussion or consultation for legal advice with the attorney or attorneys of the public body,
pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(3).

5. ADJOURNMENT
The Town Council reconvened into Open Session at 6:26 p.m. at which time the Special Meeting
of September 8, 2020, adjourned.
